Koh Samui - Now takes direction from Bangkok

Koh Samui has been upgraded to town municipality status , this means that Samui in the future will report directly to Bangkok and not to Surat Thani. Many of the citizens on Samui hope that this will increase the funds to improve infastructure especially roads & waste. New projects will soon be announced to improve and upgrade Koh Samui. The new council has changed as a result of the recent elections New Mayor winning Ramnet Jaikwang and his party, Samui Kaona, winning 17of the 18 council seats.At 75% turnout of voters was the largest in Samui history.
